2016 Memorial Weekend Historic Church Tours, St. Mark's and St. John's Episcopal Church

Memorial Day Weekend Historic Church Tours at St. Mark's and St. John's Episcopal Church, 21 Race Street, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229, church office:  570-325-2241.  Saturday, May 28th, Sunday, May 29th, and Monday, May 30th - Tours at 12:00 Noon - 4:00 PM.  Visitors will enjoy seeing this unusual revival church which is on the National Historic Register.  St. Mark's Church was dedicated Nov. 25th, 1869 and features beautiful stained glass windows, including two windows created by Louis C. Tiffany, the ornate baptismal font with gas candelabra and a reredos which is modeled after the one in St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.  Visitors will also enjoy hearing the history of the Chapel and seeing murals painted in 1911 and ride in the Otis birdcage elevator built in 1912 from funds donated as a gift of Mary Packer Cummings.  For group tour inquiries, please contact the tour director at church office: 570-325-2241.
