Cherry Valley National Wildlife Refuge is a 193-acre preserve on a former golf course. It’s managed by the US Fish & Wildlife Service. The Refuge has kept the former golf cart-paths to form two walking loops — the Front Nine and the Back Nine, each 1.7 miles – making for good footing and easy (though hilly) walking. Varied terrain, lots of views, and several miles of hiking options. The trails are hard gravel and well-groomed, with switchbacks, hills, and a gazebo. For all ages. Dress appropriately for the weather. Wear comfortable, sturdy footwear. Hiking poles are optional. Wildlands will provide poles if you don’t have any. No pets allowed. Only true service dogs are allowed. No jogging, bicycling or horseback riding either (to not disturb wildlife). A nice self-composting bathroom is available. This walk is free and is part of the Get Out! For Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network. Please register online. ADDRESS: 2138 Croasdale Road, Stroudsburg PA 18360 GPS: 40.9710 -75.1714 DIRECTIONS: From Stroudsburg, take Route 191 south past the Stroudsmoor Resort.
