This 1.5 mile loop is a mix of wide and well-groomed in some places and rocky and narrow in others. A hiking stick is helpful. The trails all center around the lake, which was originally built for ice making. Like general stores through the Poconos, the nearby Seguine store made ice for its own use and for sale to local customers. At the lake’s inlet, cross a log bridge which Hardytown Run flows under before joining Cranberry Creek. The dam provides a mossy waterfall where the creek leaves the lake. There are benches and a picnic table, but no restrooms or trash cans. Partial funding for this preserve came from the voter-approved Monroe County Open Space Bond. This walk is part of the Get Out! for Wellness series, funded by Lehigh Valley Health Network with a mission to connect healthy lifestyles with nature. Program is free; please register online.
