Although Ringing Rocks is popular for children, this time, we’re climbing up a mile from the river to get to the ringing rocks boulder field. We begin our hike near the Delaware River and gain about 400 feet in elevation in 1.5 miles. After ascending a pleasant gentle grade to get warmed up, we’ll hit a steep up for a 5- to 10-minute walk above Falls Creek. The trail becomes less steep as we approach the boulder field. After enjoying ringing some rocks (bring a hammer), we’ll loop down between huge boulders to the waterfall on Falls Creek. It’s the highest waterfall in Bucks County, but it’s often only a trickle of water. After we return on the same downhill trail, IF you’re ready for more exploration, you can take the trail to the Delaware River. Wildlands removed a dam on private property in 2023 near here. And hundreds of wetland plugs were planted on the restored floodplain. Because of the variety of features on this trail, we’ll need to keep together as a group. Bring your hiking poles--lots of leaves will have fallen, and they can hide roots and rocks. Wildlands will supply poles for your use, too. Portable toilets are available at the upper parking lot, halfway through our hike. Dress in layers for the weather. Dogs on leash are welcome. This walk is free and is part of the Get Out For Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network. Please register online.
