This delicate bog ecosystem is only accessible with an Environmental Educator from Monroe County Conservation District. It is a National Natural Landmark under the Nature Conservancy. This is a sanctuary, a place where animals are wild, secretive, and unconfined. The Tannersville Cranberry Bog is a place where all things--both living and non-living--are protected. For this reason, there is no collecting allowed, take only memories, and leave nothing! The guided tour begins promptly at 1 pm--don’t be late. Wear comfortable closed-toes shoes or sneakers that you don’t mind getting wet! We go rain or shine—so dress appropriately for the weather. If you use bug spray, apply it before you arrive. Dogs are not permitted on this walk. Restrooms are not available so please plan accordingly. The Monroe Co. Conservation District/Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is the clearing house for all public access to this preserve. This arrangement both maximizes the protection of the preserve and provides a supervised, educational opportunity to experience this unique natural area. Space is limited and Walk-ons are not accepted for this hike. This walk is part of the Get Out! For Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network. There is a small fee; please register online.
