Wildlands Conservancy - Get Out! for Wellness: Wildlands’ Thomas Darling Preserve

Named for Wilkes-Barre naturalist Thomas Darling Jr, this groundwater-fed glacial wetland has one of the state’s largest and healthiest spruce forests. This 2-mile hike is partly on a boardwalk through a bog and is fairly easy, on mostly level ground. Dress for the weather. There are no restrooms here. Leashed dogs welcome. Location: Thomas Darling Preserve, Burger Rd., Blakeslee, PA 18610. Directions: Travelling North on Rt 115 from the traffic light in Blakeslee, travel 1.1 miles to Burger Road on the right. Follow Burger for 0.8 miles to the parking lot on the right at the entrance to the Darling Preserve. Event is free; please register online. If you like, join us post-hike for a healthy lunch at Pocono Organics, about 12 minutes down the road.
